Radon Mitigation System Information
Garage Attic Sub-Slab Depressurization systems are installed in homes or businesses with slab flooring. A garage attic installation runs PVC piping from the sub-slab radon collection point created in the slab through the garage where a radon mitigation fan has been installed. A roof stack connected to the fan funnels the radon gas up and out of the building from the roof. This is a common practice for homes where the system should not be visible externally.
The system works by creating a negative pressure under the home where the radon collection point is established. The radon fan that is mounted in the attic must run continuously in order for the system to work correctly to mitigate the radon from the home or building. From the radon collection point under the slab, the radon gas is collected and the system’s fan will draw the gas from under the home in the radon collection point and route the radon gas through the PVC piping installed in the garage and out of the building through the roof stack that has been installed.
