Omaha Nebraska

While most think of Nebraska as farm country, Omaha is anything but. Founded in 1854, it has grown into the state's largest city with numerous amenities, activities, and a lot of history. That history exists side by side with sleek, new structures, including several skyscrapers like One First National Center and the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge, which spans 3,000 feet over the Missouri River between Omaha, Nebraska and Council Bluffs, Iowa. This city of around 446,000 is so attractive that four Fortune 500 companies have their headquarters there, including Union Pacific Railroad. The U.S. Olympic Swim team even uses Omaha for its time trials.

While quite a bit of snow does fall on Omaha, Nebraska every year (just under 29 inches on average), summers are rather mild, with the average temperature around 76 degrees. But a few days a year, the temp will get up to 90 degrees.

There is not a lack of activities and attractions in Omaha, Nebraska. The city is home to one of the state's biggest tourist attractions, the Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium. This zoo features an indoor desert exhibit and one of the largest exhibits of big cats in North America. Another popular area in Omaha, Nebraska is the Old Market in downtown, which has numerous shops, eateries, and bars. It is also the site of the Native Omaha Days Festival. The CenturyLink Center is a 19,000 seat arena used for concerts and other events, including Creighton University Men's Basketball games. Though perhaps the biggest sporting event of the year in Omaha, Nebraska is the annual College World Series.

Omaha, Nebraska has some unique distinctions. This city is the birthplace of the Reuben, Butter Brickle ice cream, Raisin Bran, Duncan Hines cake mix, and Top 40 radio.
